The Labour Party is not going to be fit for purpose as a democratic socialist party for many years, if ever. The Labour Right, with a majority on the National Executive Committee, has a hold on the Labour Party and on the Parliamentary Labour Party.
We respect the left Labour Party members who are staying in the Labour Party to fight for democracy. The 2021 Annual Conference will be stitched up. Then, you will be looking for a democratic socialist party like Left Labour.
Left Labour is the natural home for democratic socialists. Other than our friends at Breakthrough, there are no obvious alternatives.
The plan is to have a party in being to campaign for democratic socialism at the next General Election. We will target “safe” and “relatively safe” Labour seats, making them contests between democratic socialists and the rump Labour Party.
Most people have been told lies about socialists and socialism all their lives. There is only a short time frame between now and the next General Election, so we must start soon. We will be campaigning in these constituencies for two years before the General Election, putting out targeted information explaining socialism. This will require money and activists.
We will be asking constituency parties not running candidates to support the 100+ constituency parties who are. You can contribute money, telephone canvassing, and boots on the ground.
